Grand Union Canal Race Draw – Saturday 8th November, 11am
Location: Goytre Wharf, Old Abergavenny Road, Llanover, Abergavenny NP7 9EW – Along the beautiful Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal

We’re excited (and just a little terrified!) to announce that the Grand Union Canal Race draw will take place at 11am on November 8th. Everyone is welcome to join us as we celebrate the spirit of endurance, community, and adventure that makes this event so special.

How the draw works:

  • There are a total of 180 places available for next year’s race.

  • Two separate draws will be held:

    • Supported draw – 70 places (for runners with their own crew)

    • Unsupported draw – 70 places (for runners tended by the organiser)

  • Anyone who pre-registered and is a hopeful runner will have their name entered into the appropriate draw’s slightly dented but much-loved canal coal bucket.

Other allocations on the day:

  • 30 double-hopefuls will be guaranteed a place:

    • First 15 Supported entries (with own crew)

    • First 15 Unsupported entries (tended by organiser)

    • Determined by the date and time of GUCR pre-registration.

  • 10 golden ticket places will be allocated with help from the Canalrace team.

Those fortunate enough to secure a spot at the GUCR 2026 will be notified via the email address they used to register on SiEntries.

Come along, share a laugh, and cheer us on — we can’t wait to see you there!
