Canalrace Season 2027 – The ballot is back & so is the KACR.
We’re sticking with tradition for 2027…
Entry to the GUCR 145 will once again be decided by ballot.
The ballot opens on SiEntries at 10am, 31st October 2026 and will remain open for two weeks – closing 10am, 14th November.
There’s no mad rush. Whether you put your name in on day one or day thirteen, you have the same chance.
We have 200 allocations available for the 2027 GUCR 145.
After guaranteed places for qualifying 2026 volunteers and the first 40 Canalslammers have been allocated, all remaining places will be drawn through the ballot.
The draw takes place on 10am,15th November 2026.
Missed out last time?

When you submit your 2027 ballot entry, tick the box to let us know.
You’ll receive an extra ticket in the 2027 ballot – giving you two chances instead of one.
Volunteered with us in 2026?
We’d like to return the favour.
If you volunteered at one of our events in 2026 and want to run the GUCR in 2027, submit your ballot entry and tick the volunteer box.
Qualifying 2026 volunteers will be guaranteed a GUCR 145 place for 2027.
You gave your time to help make our events happen. We’d love to see you on the other side of the checkpoint table next year.
New Categories For 2027 – Canal Crew vs Bring Your Own Crew
Across all Canalrace events, every runner will choose one of two new categories when entering.
We’re moving away from the “supported / unsupported” terminology because, frankly, it was a teeny tiny bit confusing.
So we’re keeping things simple:
Canal Crew
We look after you. You race without your own personal crew and use the support provided by the Canalrace team.
Bring Your Own Crew
You bring your own crew. You race with your own personal crew supporting you along the way.
Every runner will choose their preferred category when they enter:
The Canalslam Is Back For 2027
Oh yes. GUCR 145 • LLCR 130 • KACR 145. Three races. 420 miles of towpath. One year.
The original Canalslam returns for 2027 and there really is nothing else quite like it.
And we’re giving the first 40 runners who commit to all three races a guaranteed GUCR 145 place, regardless of whether they choose Canal Crew or Bring Your Own Crew. No ballot draw required.
How To Commit To The Slam
The order matters: Enter KACR 145. Enter LLCR 130. Submit your GUCR 145 ballot entry. Tick the Canalslam box
That little tick is important – it tells us you’re committing to all three. The first 40 runners who have entered KACR and LLCR and then declared their Canalslam intention on their GUCR ballot entry will have their GUCR place guaranteed.
One Important Bit…
If you tick any of the eligibility boxes, we’ll check them against our records before the ballot is drawn. So please tick the relevant box. Guaranteed places don’t stack, and an extra ballot ticket only applies if your entry is actually going into the ballot.
